Whats inside your First Aid Kit?

Every home should have first aid kit for emergencies. Emergencies come in all sizes from falling to high fever and one must always be prepared for whatever accidents/sickness that maybe thrown at you. First Aid Kits are available in all leading drug stores but it is preferred to build your own kit.  Just make sure that you go through all the items and have it refilled all the time. Always keep an eye on antibiotics’ and prescription drugs’ expiration date.

BANDAGES
Band aids to cover cuts and wounds
Elastic bandage use for muscle sprains, strains and bone fractures
Sterile gauze to cover big wounds to avoid infection
Hypoallergenic paper tape

EQUIPMENTS
Tweezers to remove tiny embedded splinters
Latex gloves
Scissors
Safety pins to keep bandages in place
Digital thermometer
Flashlight with extra batteries

MEDICINES
Fever
Antibacterial ointment to prevent infection from settling into a wound
Pain relievers such as aspirin, acetaminophen or ibuprofen
Anti-diarrhea medication
Antacid for upset stomach
Antihistamine for sneezing, allergies and anaphylactic reactions due to insect bites and certain food Calamine lotion for anti itch and other skin irritations
Antibiotics or prescription drugs
Ammonia for fainting spells

OTHERS
Cotton swabs for applying antiseptic ointments and for cleaning wounds
Alcohol
Anti septic solutions like hydrogen peroxide

Note: Just make sure to include the First Aid Manual and list of contact numbers of physicians, hospital, fire and police
